| 2008 Black Beard Adv. Race |
|
9th Place Solo Male Division / 23rd Place Overall |
| This setting for this race was the ever so humid seascape of Nags Head, North Carolina. All I have to say is HOT and BORING! |
| 2007 Howl at the Moon Adv. Race |
|
1st Place Solo Division / 13th Place Overall |
| This race took place primarily along the historic Suwannee River. The best part was the 20 mile trekking leg and the post-race nap I took in the back of the Xterra. |

DNF |
| This was our first race as a 3-person team. It was great until we decided to withdrawl in the 25th hour. |
| 2007 Bald Eagle Burnout Adv. Race |
|
2nd Place Solo Division / 15th Place Overall |
| This inaugural race took place in the deep south with high temperatures and high hopes! |
| 2007 Odyssey One Day (#3) Adv. Race |
|
DNF |
| Yet another race where we didn't make the full course. To make matters worse the RD labeled everyone on the short courses as DNF. |
| 2007 Virginia Untamed Adv. Race |
|
12th Place 2 Person Single Gender / 32nd Place Overall |
| This was a long race with some difficult navigation, but heat and humidity were the biggest obstacles we faced. Dehydration caused early cramping which was only the beginning of the troubles we faced exploring the wilderness in and around Charlottesville. We also decided we hate riverboarding. |
| 2007 Tidewater Traverse Adv. Race |
|
8th Place 2/3/4 Person Male / 11th Place Overall |
| With a surprise start almost quite literally in Mark's back yard, HRAdventure's first night start race was challenging but a lot of fun. The team missed a late cutoff by 3 minutes and were short-coursed yet again, after a depressing visit to what was once a great mountain biking trail (Waller Mill). |
| 2007 SPROUTE (Spring Route) Adv. Race |
|
10th Place 2/3/4 Person Male / 23rd Place Overall |
| Mark and Kevin's first official race on the same team went well, as the two covered familiar ground with HRAdventure's first foray into York River State Park. The high winds caused a shortening of the paddling section, but otherwise it was a beautiful day for racing. |
| 2006 Sea and Sand Adv. Race |
|
10th Place 2 Person Single Gender / 18th Place Overall |
| This race took us down the coast of Virginia Beach to False Cape State Park. We had a rough portage across to Back Bay followed by a short trekking leg. The trekking led up to a hellacious paddle against the tide back to Little Island parking lot. The biking leg had us riding down the beach and pushing our bikes alot of the time back in False Cape. We had trouble with one checkpoint during this leg and it cost us big time! |
| 2006 Storm the Eastern Shore Adv. Race |
|
1st Place 2 Person Single Gender / 7th Place Overall |
| This was the best race of the year! We nailed the paddling legs and had a great time with the trek/swim!! Unfortunately we didn't make the cut-off time for the first day, but neither did many of the other teams! |
| 2006 Krista Griesacker Memorial Adv. Race |
|
6th 2 Person Male / 33rd Overall |
| This race had a nice trekking section, with some scenic areas for biking and canoeing. Unfortunately the paddling didn't include much paddling, and we had to skip the rope section just to be able to finish the full course. |
| 2006 Odyssey One Day Adv. Race |
|
6th 2 Person Male / 16th Overall |
| This was without a doubt the hardest race we have done to date. While technically a supported race, what was billed as a good race for beginners turned out to be a desparate journey through unridable (by any mortal human) trails and a struggle to keep our Camelbaks from running dry. |
| 2006 Tidewater Traverse Adv. Race |
|
6th Place / 2 Person Single Gender |
| The race started with a bike in the early morning drizzle. After navigating the muddy fire roads and trails we embarked on a paddle leg up the Chickahominy River. The next bike section took us to Freedom Park for some trekking. After some more muck we got back on our bikes for a ride on the Colonial Parkway. After reaching the next transition area, we donned lifejackets and headed for a trek section with lots of water and muck. The end of this trek took us through Colonial Williamsburg to the final paddle leg on a York River tributary. The takeout/finish line was at New Quarter Park where there was bonus single track and trekking sections. Unfortunately, we were already past the cut off time and could not participate in the bonuses. |
| 2006 SPROUTE (Spring Route) Adv. Race |
|
1st Place / 2 Person Single Gender |
| The race followed an excellent course through Pocahontas State Park in Chesterfield, VA. The race legs were: 3.5 mile paddle, 5 mile trek, 3 mile paddle, 10 mile bike, 3.5 mile trek, 10 mile bike, and 5.5 miles of singletrack biking (all approximated). Kevin injured his foot on the final trek section, and the team arrived at the singletrack cutoff at 4:01pm according to the offical clock. One minute too late! |
| 2005 Storm the Eastern Shore Adv. Race |
|
5th Place / 4 Person Coed Division |
| This race had tons of paddling and biking, as expected. Not sure of the actual distances as there were several transitions throughout the race. The race really put the support crew to the test, and they performed very well. We did fairly well overall considering this was our first race experience in kayaks, and our first time racing with Nick and Riya. This was also our first overnight race. I think we all agreed it would've been preferrable to not camp overnight, but rather continue the race non-stop. |
| 2005 Tidewater Adventure Sprint Challenge (TASC) |
|
4th Place / 2 Person Male Division |
| The race started with selecting a pumpkin to accompany us for the duration of the race. We then had a canoe portage followed by several miles of canoeing out and back to the TA. Next was a bike leg that took us through some nice singletrack and then down to Colonial Williamsburg and beyond. The trekking leg took place south of the colonial area. Next we biked back to the TA. Several other challenges were scattered throughout the race legs. |
